WHY dark SKY

EVERY HOLDING COMPANY HAS A NAME. OURS IS A CLAIM ABOUT WHAT RETIREMENT SHOULD LOOK LIKE — AND WE'D RATHER EXPLAIN IT PLAINLY THAN LET ANYONE ELSE FRAME IT.

.THE NAME A LETTER, NOT A TAGLINE
AT SUNSET
THE SKY
doesn't empty.
IT FILLS.
.01

The sunset idea— what the name actually means.

AN OWNER'S RETIREMENT IS A SUNSET ON A WORKING LIFE — TWENTY OR THIRTY YEARS OF DAYLIGHT, ENDING ON PURPOSE. MOST BUYERS TREAT THAT MOMENT AS DARKNESS: THE NAME COMES OFF THE DOOR, THE CLIENTS GO INTO A QUEUE, THE STORY ENDS.

WE THINK THE OPPOSITE. IN A TRUE DARK SKY, THE STARS COME OUT — EVERYTHING THE OWNER BUILT BECOMES VISIBLE AND STAYS LIT. THE AGENCY KEEPS ITS NAME. THE CLIENTS KEEP THEIR PROMISE. THE WORK GOES ON, QUIETLY, AFTER THE SUN GOES DOWN.

.02

Quiet stewardship— the operating half of the name.

STEWARDSHIP MEANS THE BOOK IS SERVICED BETTER THAN BEFORE, NOT MERELY HELD. QUIET MEANS NOBODY HEARS ABOUT A CONVERSATION UNTIL THE SELLER SAYS SO — NDA FIRST, NO ANNOUNCEMENTS ON OUR CLOCK, NO PRESSURE TACTICS EVER.

.A LETTER FROM THE FOUNDER

I run an independent agency in Denver. For years I have watched owners near retirement work through the same arithmetic at the same kitchen table: the book is healthy, the clients are loyal, the kids don't want it, and every buyer who calls sounds like they are reading from the same script.

The offers open high and shrink in diligence. The transition is promised and then rushed. Six months after close, the name is gone from the door and the clients are on hold with someone three states away. The owner did everything right for thirty years, and the last chapter gets written carelessly by a stranger.

Dark Sky exists because I believe the last chapter can be written well. We built Pearl inside our own agency first — it reviews our renewals, catches our cancellations, answers our phones — and we ran our own book on it before asking any owner to trust us with theirs. Then we formed a company to do the buying the way I would want to be bought: a price from real, verified numbers that holds at close, an NDA before a single statement changes hands, and a transition designed around the seller instead of the spreadsheet.

Our portfolio page is empty today. I would rather show you an empty page than a padded one. The first name that appears on it will be treated the way I'd want mine treated — and it will stay there for good.

FOUR NAMED PRINCIPLES GOVERN EVERY DEAL WE DO — HOW WE PRICE, HOW WE TRANSITION, HOW CLIENTS ARE SERVED, AND HOW QUIETLY WE WORK. THEY ARE WRITTEN DOWN SO YOU CAN HOLD US TO THEM.
